PERMACOAT 2000 is a 100% solids epoxy floor coating. The PERMACOAT 2000 system can be used as a glaze coat for the PERMATEC high-build flooring system (16-60 mils). When applied as a two-coat system, a silica broadcast can be used between coats.
PERMACOAT 2000 is ideal for use with color quartz. The use of a color quartz aggregate provides a decorative finish to a tough industrial floor.
The PERMACOAT 2000 system consists of two components, resin and hardener, in bout horizontal and vertical formulations. Application of PERMACOAT 2000 is accomplished with rubber squeegees and short nap paint rollers.
The PERMACOAT 2000 system is design as a medium-duty (16-60 mils) floor coating where color stability and gloss are important. PERMACOAT 2000 can be installed over most sound floors including old or new concrete, steel or wood, providing a cost effective alternative to high-build toppings.

Packaging & Coverage
The PERMACOAT 2000 system is packaged in one and three gallon units. Each unit consists of pre-measured components, Part A (Resin) and Part B (Hardener).
The cure time of PERMACOAT 2000 and other resinous systems is very dependent upon the temperature of the substrate. The chart below represents the approximate times for the respective service conditions, following the last coat:
Prior to application of the PERMACOAT 2000 system the resin, hardener, silica and substrate should be between 70°F and 95°F.
Premix the Resin (Part A) for 30 seconds using a Jiffler mixer blade attached to a 500-700 RPM drill. Add the Hardener (Part B) only when the batch is ready to be applied. Mix for approx. 90-120 seconds. After mixing pour immediately onto floor.
Use a rubber squeegee to spread the resin over the pre-measure area to be covered. Immediately back roll the PERMACOAT 2000 with a short nap (1/8 inches) wool or mohair roller. At this point several pre-specified readings should be made with a wet mil gauge to assure uniform coverage. After the coating has been back rolled and uniform thickness verified, the surface may be saturated with a silica or color quartz broadcast.
Note: When using color quartz, clear PERMACOAT 2000 will be used in both the first and second coat. The color is provided by the quartz itself. This allows for the use of tweed patterns, and minimizes the visibility of scratches.
All mixing and application equipment should be cleaned immediately after use. If this is done, soap and water, or biodegradable cleaners can be used. If the material has begun to set, more aggressive solvents will be necessary. Before using solvents, refer to their respective MSDS for handling considerations.
For systems designed for splash and spill exposures, routine washdowns are recommended to reduce the length of chemical exposure. This step is not necessary where the product is recommended for containment service.
Storage & Shelf Life
PERMACOAT 2000 should be stored at 50°F-90°F out of direct sunlight. All containers should remain unopened until ready for use. If stored as set out above, this product has a minimum shelf life of one year.
Where PERMACOAT 2000 Should Not Be Installed
PERMACOAT 2000 should not be applied over substrates:
- which are wet during the application
- subject to hydrostatic pressure
- which are unsound
- which are contaminated and cannot be cleaned
- at temperatures below 70°F (Consult ChemProof Polymers)
PERMACOAT 2000 contains blended Epoxies as resin and blended Amines as the hardener. Protective clothing and gloves are recommended to prevent sensitization to these materials. In case of ingestion or eye contact, contact a physician immediately. MSDS are available for this product upon request.
